NAB's HR Process
Up until 2007 National Australia Bank, which has over 30,000 staff across Australia, provided all our HR services internally. However, we had some concerns. First of all, a lot of our people were caught up in day-to-day issues rather than being able to concentrate on strategy. In addition to that, the quality of the work that was undertaken often left something to be desired. Turnaround times were also very slow, and I have to say the overall cost was quite high. So we decided there was a need for change.
NAB's Vision

In that context, we went out and searched across the field to see who was available, and I'm delighted to say that we found Infosys. That really has made a significant difference to our business over the last two to three years.

After going through a really rigorous process, we chose Infosys by ticking all our boxes. Infosys was the organization that we felt best placed to collaborate with us in order to be able to deliver to our employees and that certainly has been the case.
Realizing Business Value
There's a really positive feeling across the organization about the engagement with Infosys. First of all, people have been freed up, internal people have been freed up so that they can concentrate on other, important strategic areas. Secondly, turnaround times have significantly improved. And thirdly - and I find our finance guys really like this - there's been a significant benefit to us in terms of overall cost management.

We've had real benefits from the relationship with Infosys - so much so that other parts of the organization - for example, credit cards - are now starting to use Infosys, and we anticipate that, going forward, more opportunities will come forward. And there are ongoing discussions with Infosys about the way that they can assist us not only with our Australian operations, but indeed, in the rest of NAB's operations around the globe.
I encourage all other organizations that are considering entering into a relationship with a collaborative, trusted business partner to look at Infosys. From our experience, you can't do better.
